Connect Thuraya to the internet
To connect a PC via the Thuraya network to the Internet you need to set
up a normal dial-up connection by using a 19.2 bps standard modem. Dial
the number 1722 and leave the user name and password blank. It is likely
that your system will put in a standard user name from your computer - you
should delete this before proceeding.
The Thuraya system does not need a user name or a password, you get access
to the system through the Thuraya caller line ID. Please notice, that internet
via shortcode 1722 only works when the Thuraya is working in SAT mode.
How to do:
1. Connect the Thuraya phone to the computer with the Thuraya data
cable
2. Press Quick Link Mobil
3. Press Connect
4. Delete User name
5. Delete Password
6. Dial 1722
How to set up your Thuraya phone as modem:
Thuraya phones is recognized as a 19.2 kbps standard modem, the following steps
shows how to configure the Internet connection via Thuraya phone:
Use the Data-cable to connect your Thuraya phone to the serial port on your computer, as shown on picture on the right side.
Configure your computer as follows:
- Go to Control Panel
- Choose Phone and Modem
- Ad new modem, and let MS Windows detect your modem
- Choose 19.200 kbps standard modem
- Choose connection port com1
- Go to Network and Dial Up
- Create a new connection
- Choose connect directly to the internet
- Type the phone number for your nearest ISP
- Surf the net
Note: These software configurations are for computers running Windows 2000 operating system.
