The SPOT Personal Tracker raised the safety factor for millions who took to the outdoors each year. SPOT notifies friends, family or an international rescue coordination center with your GPS location and status based on situation and need - all with the push of a button. The new Spot is 30% smaller, 30% lighter and has faster GPS acquisition. New features include, custom message button, enhanced antenna performance, improved tracking performance, replaceable button covers, and safety covers over the SOS and Help buttons.
Functions:
- SOS / 911: Use this function In the event of a life threatening or other critical emergency to notify emergency services of your GPS location and that you need assistance. The GEOS International Emergency Response Center alerts the appropriate agencies worldwide – for example contacting 9-1-1 responders in North America and 1-1-2 responders in Europe.
- Help: In the event of a non-life threatening emergency, you can use this function to notify your personal contacts that you need assistance. Additional SPOT Assist services can be purchased and programmed to your Help button as well. When activated with SPOT Assist, the Help button will notify professional services either on the land or water. SPOT has partnered with national service providers to offer non-life threatening assistance.
- Check-in/OK: This feature allows you to let your friends and family know that all is OK with a pre-programmed message along with your GPS location. With a push of a button a message is sent via email or SMS to up to 10 pre-determined contacts and your waypoint is stored in your SPOT account for later reference. Your stored waypoints can be easily integrated into a SPOT Shared Page or SPOT Adventure account.
- Custom Message: This feature allows you to let your friends and family know receive a custom message along with your GPS location with a push of a button. Use this feature as a secondary OK message or transfer your personal help alert to this message function if you are using a SPOT Assist service on your Help button.
- Track Progress: This feature allows you to send and save your location and allow contacts to track your progress in near real time using Google Maps. With your SPOT account you have the ability to set up a SPOT Shared Page which allows you to show your SPOT GPS locations to others on a Google Map.
The Basic Service Plan for the SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger costs for one year is $99.99 or two years for $199.98 and includes these unlimited services:
- SOS - Notified the emergency response center of your GPS location
- Help - Ask family and friends for help or request SPOT Assist (additional service fee for SPOT Assist)
- Check/OK - Let contacts know where you are and that you are OK.
- Custom Message - Send a custom message to family and friends.
Other optional SPOT services are available for additional fees:
- Track Progress—allows friends and family to follow your progress online in real time or to save waypoints so you can review your entire route at a later date. SPOT Track Progress automatically sends your GPS location waypoint to a Google Map every 10 minutes $49.99/year
- GEOS Member Rescue Benefit—Geos provide the SOS/911 monitoring included in your Basic Service. You can upgrade to the GEOS Member Benefit for reimbursement of up to $100K in Search and Rescue (SAR) expenses - even coordinating a private SAR contractor if needed to get you to safety. $7.95/year
- SPOT Assist Satellite GPS Safety Service—SPOT Assist provides satellite-based notification to third party professional service providers to help ensure your safety on land or water - at the push of a button. $30.00/year
- Product Replacement Program—The SPOT Product Replacement Program offers registered SPOT users the ability to quickly replace your damaged, lost or stolen SPOT device so you keep receiving security and peace-of-mind for both you and your loved ones. $17.95/year (plus $30 deductible)
- SOS: Emergency assistance request sent with your GPS location to GEOS every 5 minutes until batteries die or until cancelled
- Help/SPOT Assist: Request help from friends and family every 5 minutes for 1 hour. Up to 10 contacts - phone & email
- Check In: Lets contacts know where you are and that you're okay. Attempts to send three messages to help ensure successful transmission. Up to 10 contacts - phone and email. Contacts will receive only 1 message.
- Custom Message: Creates custom non-urgent message to send to friends and family
- Track Progress: Acquires your GPS location every 10 minutes for 24 hours. Sends each location one time. Previous 2 track points sent with current track point helping ensure consistent recording of movements.
- Emergency Response Center: GEOS is operational 7 days/week, 365 days a year, operating out of Houston, TX (2 addl. backup locations)
- History Review: Review all Check In, Track Alert SOS, and Help locations via findmespot.com using Google maps for up to 30 days.
- Shared Page: You can share messages and locations with others via a personal shared page or SPOT adventures account. Live data viewing up to 7 days, data storage up to 30 days. Can have up to 10 shared pages.
- Button Covers: Prevent accidental activation of SOS or Help features
